The inaugural Diamond League track and field competition, originally set to take place in Doha, Qatar, has been rescheduled for at least June. This decision stems from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, as announced by the league recently.
The event, initially planned for May 8th as the 2026 season opener, is now slated for June 19th, pending a favorable assessment of the situation. Consequently, the season will now kick off in Shanghai on May 16th. As a result of its postponement to a later part of the summer, the competition will transition to the indoor and climate-controlled Khalifa International Stadium, departing from its initial venue at the Qatar Sports Club.
