The inaugural significant content expansion for the survival simulation game, Grounded 2, has officially launched. Titled "The Toxic Tangle," this update brings forth a fresh Garden Patch biome, a variety of new creatures, both amicable and adversarial, and introduces the enigmatic "Tang effect." This environmental corruption, stemming from a failed experiment by Ominent Practical Technologies, is actively contaminating the soil, water, and unsuspecting inhabitants of the miniature world.
The "Toxic Tangle" update immerses players in a vibrant, vine-entangled Garden biome, teeming with exploration opportunities. This new zone promises vertical ascents, hidden caches, and unexpected encounters with insects. Caution is advised, as Obsidian, the game's developer, recommends players equip their best gear and formulate contingency plans for the inherent dangers within this verdant, yet treacherous, landscape.
Among the newly introduced fauna are black ants, fireflies, wasps, rust and potato beetles, earwigs, crickets, woolly aphids, and a significantly larger, more formidable adversary: the Snake Colossus. To aid in traversing this perilous environment, players can acquire the Ladybug Buggy. This robust, tank-like vehicle is outfitted with a pressurized water cannon, capable of neutralizing enemies and cleansing the pervasive Tang. The Ladybug Buggy also boasts a powerful charge attack and passively regenerates health over time, offering a crucial advantage in the face of new threats.
Significant changes have been implemented in the mutation system, now categorized into active and passive abilities. The building toolkit has been expanded with additional kits, and new wave challenges, Garden MIX.R and O.R.C., are now available. Furthermore, the Playgrounds Mode is slated for a return via Public Test Beta in February, empowering creators to design custom mini-games, boss arenas, and gauntlets, leveraging the core tools from the original Grounded experience.
The "Toxic Tangle" update also features a comprehensive list of new resources, armor sets, weapons, and trinkets, designed to enhance gameplay and provide players with more strategic options. Returning elements, such as specific creatures, armors, and weapons, have been integrated, alongside a revamped crafting station with updated recipes. Community-requested quality-of-life improvements have been addressed, including enhanced item organization, adjusted crafting costs, improved player-buggy interaction, and the addition of in-game map coordinates. Balance adjustments have been made to certain trinkets and weapon damages to ensure a fair and engaging experience. Various bug fixes have also been deployed to enhance game stability and address lingering issues, ensuring a smoother and more immersive journey through the enlarged backyard world.
