The esteemed Vicenzaoro VO Awards are poised for their second iteration, shining a spotlight on the exceptional craftsmanship, innovative spirit, and unwavering commitment to sustainability within the gold, jewelry, and watchmaking industries. This initiative, spearheaded by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), provides a unique platform for exhibitors to showcase their finest creations and contribute to the evolution of the sector.
Set to culminate in an awards ceremony on January 17, 2027, during Vicenzaoro January, the awards invite brands from the ICON, LOOK, and CREATION communities to submit their entries. These categories are meticulously designed to recognize diverse facets of jewelry production, from high-end masterpieces to everyday luxury and fashion-forward designs. The submission period for entries extends until November 30th, encouraging a broad range of participants to present their work for consideration.
Matteo Farsura, Global Exhibition Manager of IEG’s Jewellery & Fashion division, emphasized that the VO Awards are an integral part of the Vicenzaoro ecosystem. He highlighted their role in celebrating manufacturing excellence, meticulous material selection, capacity for innovation, and adherence to sustainable practices. Farsura described the initiative as a means to strengthen the industry community and solidify Vicenzaoro's position as a nexus where tradition, innovation, artistry, and industry converge, fostering value creation across the entire supply chain.
The competition features ten distinct categories tailored to reflect the varied landscape of gold, jewelry, and silver manufacturing, aligning with the organizational structure of Vicenzaoro – The Jewellery Boutique Show. For the ICON community, awards include 'Best in ICON – High End Jewellery' for superior materials and intricate workmanship, 'Best in ICON – Fine Jewellery' for luxury brands offering wearable fine pieces, and 'Best in ICON – One of a Kind Jewellery' for unique artistic creations. The CREATION community recognizes 'Best in CREATION – Gold Manufacturing,' 'Best in CREATION – Silver Manufacturing,' and 'Best in CREATION – Gold & Gems Manufacturing' for exceptional artistry in their respective materials. The LOOK community's contemporary jewelry is honored through 'Best in LOOK – Semi-Precious Jewellery' for sophisticated yet affordable designs, and 'Best in LOOK – Fashion Jewellery' for versatile pieces made from alternative materials. Additionally, two overarching categories, 'Best in SPECIAL – Sustainability Award' and 'Best in SPECIAL – Innovation Award,' acknowledge forward-thinking approaches to sustainable product development and value-adding production innovations.
A distinguished panel of technical experts will evaluate the submissions. This jury comprises professionals with deep knowledge across various disciplines, ensuring a thorough and comprehensive assessment of each piece's impact on the supply chain. Notable jury members include Alice Vanni and Iris Van Der Veken for sustainability insights, Damiano Zito for innovation, Nicolò Rapone for production process expertise, Tomasz Donocik for design, and Rui Galopim de Carvalho for gemmology. Carlo Bartorelli will offer a retail perspective, while Paola De Luca will contribute her foresight in luxury trends. Media representation will be provided by Kyle Roderick and Federica Frosini.
The selection process is multi-faceted, beginning with the technical jury's initial review to select three finalists per category. On January 14th, just before Vicenzaoro January 27 commences, the jury will personally inspect and re-evaluate these finalist pieces, which will be prominently displayed in a designated area within Hall 7 throughout the exhibition. Crucially, buyers, exhibitors, media representatives, and visitors attending the show between Friday and Sunday morning will also have the opportunity to cast their votes, contributing 30% to the final outcome.
Michela Amenduni, Product Marketing & Communication Manager, highlighted that the VO Awards underscore Vicenzaoro's dedication to facilitating dialogue and knowledge exchange among key industry stakeholders. She noted that the initiative engages everyone from exhibitors and jury members to buyers, media, and visitors, all contributing their specialized knowledge to a project that spans the entire value chain. Further information and entry details can be found on the event's official website, with entries available for public viewing in a dedicated online section starting in December.
